Drink Me: Tea Runners, Creme de la Berry Green

A second tea that I got from my last Tea Runners box was Creme de la Berry Green, which actually comes from Simpson & Vail from whom I have recently purchased tea.

From the website, Creme de la Berry Green contains green tea, organic cacao nibs, flavoring and strawberry fruit pieces.

It’s available in a variety of sizes: 2oz for $4.15, 4oz for $7.20, 8oz for $13.20, or 1lb for $26.40.

When I opened the package, the first thing I could smell were the strawberries; it was like they were sweet and tart and fresh in the package.  The tea itself was light without a grassy taste, and the strawberry flavor really came through. I didn’t get as much of the chocolate taste, but I was so delighted with the strawberry flavor that I don’t care.  I can’t wait to try this one iced as summer rolls around!

Drink Me: Simpson & Vail, Creamy Toasted Coconut Oolong

Another tea I included in my last order from Simpson & Vail was Creamy Toasted Coconut Oolong. I love coconut, and I’m also partial to oolong teas. I find them much mellower than black tea, and I really enjoy them.

From the website Creamy Toasted Coconut Oolong contains: oolong tea, cacao nibs, vanilla beans, organic coconut pieces, flavorings and blue cornflower petals.

Creamy Toasted Coconut Oolong is available in a variety of sizes: 1oz for $2.45, 4oz for $8.45, 8oz for $16.90 and 1lb for $33.80.

When I opened the tea, I could smell the toasted coconut.  Once brewed I could still smell the coconut, but it wasn’t as strong. The tea was really smooth and delicious, with just a hint of the coconut at the end. It was a really delightful mid-afternoon pick-me-up, especially with a cookie I had been hanging onto for tea time. This one will definitely be put into my afternoon rotation!

Drink Me: Simpson & Vail, Ceylon Orange Pekoe

Often I get asked why I don’t review more unflavored teas.  The simple answer is that I’m always interested in the flavored teas, but I will try and make more of an effort to review unflavored teas in the future.  To that end, in my order from Simpson & Vail, I selected their Ceylon Orange Pekoe.

From the website Ceylon Orange Pekoe contains “medium sized black-brownish leaves… [that] produce a deep amber cup with a brisk, well-rounded, flowery taste.”  Ceylon Orange Pekoe is a blend of black teas from several growing areas in Sri Lanka, which was formerly known as Ceylon.

Ceylon Orange Pekoe is available in a variety of sizes: 1oz for $2.00, 4oz for $6.65, 8oz for $13.30 and 1lb for $26.60.

This tea was a wonderful strong black tea, perfect for breakfast.  It was full bodied, but mellow and not too bitter. I enjoyed mine with a touch of sugar.  I also think those who enjoy milk in their tea would really like it in this one.  I do feel like this blend would be a good staple for any tea chest.

Drink Me: Simpson & Vail, Root Beer Black Tea

Recently I placed my first order with Simpson & Vail, a tea company located in Connecticut.  They had some interesting selections that I wanted to try. One of those was their Root Beer Black Tea.

From the website, Root Beer Black Tea contains black tea, sarsaparilla and root beer flavor.

Root Beer Black Tea is available in a variety of sizes including 2oz for $3.75, 4oz for $6.40, 8oz for $12.10 and 1lb for $24.20.

Before I even opened the package I could smell the root beer scent.  I couldn’t wait to brew this one up.  After it brewed, the root beer flavor was definitely still there, but there was also a nice black tea underneath and I didn’t find it overwhelmed by the root beer. I just really enjoyed this one, but then again I love root beer!
